Pixel practice

I've never done pixel art before so I kinda wanted to try it out. I didn't really have anything in mind, I just drew things as I went and it turned out to be a little sewer with my algae girl. She really needs a name.

Does this belong in isometric?? I've never uploaded something like this before, I'm sorry if it's in the wrong category.

So I've been thinking of a little story for her and algae people. 
They were once an ancient civilization who were proficient in magic and tried to prolong their lives with it. They considered it too powerful at one point and stored it away until one day a natural disaster struck and sunk the entire city, killing all the inhabitants. Over the years, the leaked magic found its way to the deceased and a strange algae begun to grow on the bodies. It took on the body of the dead human and formed a mind of its own. Soon there was an entire city of these algae people.
They can't exactly speak well and have a simple mind but are very kind hearted and don't want to harm anyone. Eventually, a new city was built on top of theirs and the algae people are rumored to be a myth and prefer to not be seen by humans. If a human enters the sewers, they are promptly chased off with prank things.

As stated in my CDC, they feed off any rotting things they find and they love the taste of fish. They actually keep the sewers clean for the city above and no one ever has to come down to check on it or clean it. They're also too afraid to due to all the magic rumors they've heard. The only people who go in are adventurers looking for a treasure that's assumed to be deep in the sewers, or the occasional teen who goes in on a dare.

The city above no longer uses magic and it's now a thing they fear and it harms them greatly.
